Worsted weight yarns in two colours. The pattern works best when the main colour yarn has long colour changes.
Background Colour (BC): 73 m (81 m, 96 m) [80 yd, 89 yd, 105 yd]
Main Colour (MC): 51 m (57 m, 66 m) [56 yd, 62 yd, 72 yd]
4 mm (US size 6) 40 or 51 cm (16 or 20 in) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge;
a set of five double pointed needles of the same size for finishing the hat.
23-24 sts by 26 rows to 10 cm (4 in) over gauge swatch listed in pattern.
The hat starts with a crocheted provisional cast on and a row in waste yarn. The band is then knit flat till it is long enough. It is then joined together using either 3-needle bind off or grafted together and the cast-on and waste yarns removed. The grafted join is shown in the first picture below. It is between the gold and purple sections.
The band has i-cord worked at both ends at the same time as the band is made. The top is begun by picking up stitches around one side of the band between the i-cord and first stitch. The top is then worked in the round, with decreases worked in the ribbing pattern to mimic the effect on the band.
Wholesale and store pricing is available upon request.
